Sweet Treats & Dessert Tables

How about a Sweet Treat bar or a Dessert Table.

Hello again cake lovers!

This time we are going to be talking about sweet treat bars and dessert tables.

Recently we were asked to provide a display cake and sweet treat bar for the RSVP Club relaunch party at The Langham in London, you may have seen it all over on our Instagram. If not go take a look, it was quite a night!

As our treats were only one part of many other food bars on offer, we were not expecting everything to get eaten. How wrong we were! When we came back at the end of the night to pack down there were empty plates and crumbs, we call that a huge success! And we received lots of lovely comments both on the night and since.

This made us realise just how popular a sweet treat bar or dessert table would be at any event or wedding. Especially as an addition alongside a cake. And they also allow for a far more OTT cake as it can be purely for display, meaning we can really go all out without the worry of cake going stale or being wasted. Plus the big display cake can be kept on show for the duration of the event for photos. So many people were taking photos of or with the cake at The Lagnham. Then we can take it all away and reuse.

Of course there’s no reason you can’t have both. We know that not everyone is a cake person. And also that some people have a super sweet tooth. So the addition of a dessert table or treats bar pleases everyone. The non-cake people can have something else and the sweet teeth can indulge their passion.

Of course you can also have just the dessert table or sweet bar for an event which might not call for an actual cake. A party, networking or corporate event, a work event or social gathering. Basically any time a large group of people get together. Add something sweet and make everyone smile!

Have we convinced you?

So what actually IS a sweet bar or dessert table, and what’s the difference?

They are two different things although closely related.

A dessert table is generally the larger of the two options, and consists of more substantial items. Think individual tarts, full size cupcakes, eclairs, individual cakes, mouses, jellies etc. These are instead of a served dessert at an event, an updated version of the dessert trolly you used to get in hotels (yes, I am old enough to remember those) Each item is a single serving of a dessert or pudding that your guests can pick and choose from. They can then take them back to sit and enjoy.

A sweet treat bar is also pretty much as it sounds. So think a bar or sideboard full of little treats and sweet things. Sweet tapas if you like. These are not desserts but smaller, bitesize delights. Think marshmallows, meringue kisses, mini cupcakes, truffles etc. Guests can graze and pick up each time they pass. Or you can have plates on the side for guests to fill with their chosen selection. This was what we did for RSVP Club and it went down really well. A sweet treat bar is perfect for less formal gatherings. But can also be set out on afternoon tea stands for each table.

And of course there’s always the classic and retro dessert trolly! We can bring them bang up to date or keep the retro feel, how much fun would that be?!

Each sweet treat bar or dessert table is tailor made just for you and your event. Although we have a menu of delights to choose from, you can also ask for specific items and we will see what we can do. We try to always work seasonally as well, so anything with fruit will be seasonal, and also local if at all possible. We can also combine the two. Really there are no rules, just ask for what you fancy, and we will make it happen!
